The mighty Lincoln Griffins U11 Whites took a trip to the coast this morning and were given a warm welcome from Grimsby Borough, who kindly hosted us for our final friendly of the season. Down on numbers, it was straight 9 players for Los Blancos. Against a much improved Grimsby Borough and without any substitutes, this was going to be a phenomenal ask. Credit to them, the girls started brightly and started to put into practice some of the things we had been working on in training. Our goalkeeper Analeise was her normal incredibly brave self, diving at the feet of defenders. Our defenders were timing tackles very well, midfield were box to box to win possession and wingers and attackers combined brilliantly to give us a positive start. All credit to Grimsby for their never say attitude, they started to come into the game and played some great football in wide areas. Goals for the Whites today came from Emily H, Emily F and Skylar. Borough voted Emily H as their player of the match for her dribbling and impressive amount of shots. The parent's player of the match was deservedly awarded to Rosie for her electrifying display on the left wing, she was so unlucky not to score today! Both sets of players left it all out there on the pitch today, a fantastic battle, played by two outstanding squads of girls. A great advert for girl's football played full of determination, spirit and most importantly....smiles. We all look forward to playing Grimsby Borough next season and welcoming them to Lincoln. Thanks to the Mighty Whites sponsors, Krystals and FT Auto Repairs, all your help has meant so much to us this season.
