Today the mighty whites hosted Horncastle in the challenge cup and what a treat it was. Horncastle who are now in their second season are a much improved side this year, they played some great football and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Los Blancos though with their never say die attitude went out into the second half and played some of the best football we’ve seen from them this year. The Horncastle keeper was saving everything that came at her and it took a delicate finish from Emily F into the bottom left corner to finally beat her, on her right foot too! Not long after we added a second through Aurora who was playing her first game as second striker, her anticipation paid off in the box as she slotted home from close range to make it 2 and bag the winner.

Grown ups player of the match went to Emilia who had a faultless game in goal, making some match winning saves and launching some impressive goal kicks up field.

Player(s) of the match went to Aurora for a great performance in a new position, could have scored more than one and played some great passes in the final third. Mia shared the award after also having a fantastic game in a new position, in the centre of defence she made some brilliant tackles, drove the ball up field with both positive runs and a good kick when needed.

We finished the day off with a social at the bowling alley with smiles all round. With 3 wins out of 3 in the challenge cup we’re now through to the next round.
